about
Herbert Bachhofer a.k.a Shantisan grew up and sozialized in a small place in Lower Austria. He got in touch with the Black Music Culture very early. Influenced by friends and family he irresistibly had to start collecting records. A wide selection of hip-hop and downbeat records eventually led him to collecting Soul, Afro, Jazz, Bossa Nova and especially Brazilian records. Having all those fine records at home he felt the drive to play them in front of a dancing audience.
During is career as a Dj, he also started producing and now his music is well known as he has released more than 7 EPs on labels across Europe and the USA and many of his songs appeared in well known compilations. With his releases “Bring back the Bossa Rock” and "Aquela É Minha Menina" he had minor hits in the UK for some weeks, reaching number one of the Juno Broken Beats charts with both 12"s. He is also the founder of Salted Soul, a label and a kind of trade mark for his parties, which are now taking place in several locations all over Austria, reaching Germany, Italy and Greece, Slovakia or Brazil.
His new EP features Micheline Cardoso in the lyrics and vocals. "Que Nego E Esse" is a beautiful Brazilian downtempo song, exotic and sweet with an urban flavored groove. Remixes for this release are coming from different, well known European producers to support the release.
Timewarp inc from Athens brings his downtempo re-groove of the original theme- spacey lounge and trippy dub grooves come together with a 2nd dub version of the remix. Quincy Jointz from Freiburg brings his funky grooves on the remix, always with his unique style. Shanti Roots and Monte Laa Productions, both from Vienna, transforms the song into atmospherical housegrooves and techy disco breaks..
